ORANGE, Va. - The Orange County Board of Supervisors has rejected a proposed tactical training facility that drew strong opposition from residents.
The Free Lance-Star ( http://bit.ly/SbdiTp) says the board this week rejected a proposed zoning ordinance amendment that would have allowed a tactical training facility on land zoned for agricultural or general industrial use.
Global Dynamics Security Inc. had proposed operating the facility on 301 acres in the Somerset area.
More than 80 residents voiced opposition to the facility at a public hearing before the county Planning Commission last week. Many cited concerns about safety, noise and property values.
