RICHMOND, Va. - A Whitetop grower is Virginia's Christmas tree grand champion.
Rodney Richardson of Mt. Rogers Christmas Tree Farm won the Virginia Christmas Tree Growers Association's annual competition with an 8-foot tall Fraser fir.
The association says the title allows Richardson to provide a tree for the Governor's Mansion this year. He also can enter a tree in the next national contest in 2013.
Sherrie and Carlos Taylor of Severt's Tree Farm in Elk Creek won the grand champion title in the wreath category.
