SALEM, Va. - An independent center aimed at educating the public about the importance of rule of law has been established at Roanoke College.
Roanoke College President Michael Maxey says the nonprofit Center for the Rule of Law's flagship program is the Virginia Law Foundation/Virginia Bar Association Rule of Law Project. Participating lawyers and judges teach the rule of law in elementary, middle and high schools from a national and international perspective.
The center's founder and CEO, G. Michael Pace, Jr., says it will address a gap in knowledge resulting from less emphasis on teaching history, social studies and civics.
