HERNDON, Va. - Herndon police say that body of a man found near the scene of a hit-and-run that killed a mother of three has been identified as the woman's husband.
Police announced Thursday that an autopsy was being conducted to determine the cause of death of 32-year-old Fitsum Abrha Gebretatios, whose body was found in a nearby creek. Police also identified the victim as 35-year-old Simret Tekle Woldetensae.
Police say the woman's three small children were found alone in the couple's home shortly after police found her body early Wednesday and are now in the custody of child welfare officials.
Authorities say a black Toyota registered to her husband was found nearby and had struck several other vehicles.
