FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Police have identified a Spotsylvania man who drowned in the Rappahannock River.
Stafford County sheriff's spokesman Bill Kennedy tells radio station WFLS that 18-year-old Brand Wichert was with several friends who were jumping off a rock into the river Tuesday night. Wichert and one friend stayed on the rock. The friend told authorities that he turned to talk to Wichert but he wasn't there.
The group started looking for Wichert and called 911.
A diver found Witchert's body in about 8 feet of water in the area where his friends last saw him.
