Peaks of Otter Lodge manager search continues

Wednesday - 1/30/2013, 7:51am  ET

BEDFORD, Va. (AP) - The National Park Service is continuing its search for a new management team for the Peaks of Otter Lodge and Restaurant on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Parkway superintendent Paul Francis tells The Roanoke Times that several potential concessionaires have expressed interest since the park service revised the management proposal.

Francis expects the 63-room lodge and restaurant to reopen in early June with a new management team.

Longtime manager Peaks of Otter Virginia decided not to bid on a new 10-year contract with the park service. The lodge and restaurant closed in November.

Bids for a new management contract will be accepted until Feb. 6.
