HAMPTON, Va. (AP) - A Virginia Beach man has claimed a $1 million winning ticket from the latest Powerball drawing.
Dwayne Lowry claimed his winnings Thursday at the Happy Shopper store in Hampton where he purchased the ticket for Wednesday's drawing.
Media outlets report Lowry was getting coins at the store to put air in his tires. He noticed a printed Powerball ticket nearby and bought it.
His ticket matched the first five numbers but missed the Powerball. The winning numbers were 14-16-32-47-52 and the Powerball was 16.
Lowry retired from the Navy last April. He's now training to be a firefighter.
The Lottery says nine $1 million Powerball tickets have been sold in Virginia since Nov. 24.
