LYNCHBURG, Va. - A Hardy man will spend a year on probation for his role in a mortgage fraud scheme.
Forty-five-year-old Dana C. Nuccio also must perform 80 hours of community service and file an amended tax return for fiscal 2007.
Nuccio had pleaded guilty in August to lying on tax form. He was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court in Lynchburg.
U.S. Attorney Timothy J. Heaphy says Nuccio was a straw buyer in the scheme. He didn't pay taxes on kickbacks he received for falsifying documents to show overstated income and assets.
