WISE, Va. - A free three-day health clinic in Wise County is expected to provide medical, dental or vision services to about 3,000 people.
The annual Remote Area Medical Clinic opens Friday at the Wise County Fairground in Wise and continues through Sunday. Treatment is provided by volunteer health professionals on a first-come, first-serve basis.
People began arriving Thursday to get numbers giving them entry into the clinic.
The local clinic efforts are spearheaded by Health Wagon, a health clinic. Executive director Teresa Gardner tells the Bristol Herald Courier ( http://bit.ly/SLiwHW) that the most sought-after services are vision and dental treatments.
