O’Malley kicks off talks on utility performance

WASHINGTON – With businesses losing productivity and customers complaining they can’t count on having power even in good weather, Maryland’s Gov. Martin O’Malley is kicking off a series of roundtable discussions on ways to build a better electric grid.

The series comes as the Maryland Public Service Commission wraps up its public hearings on the utilities’ performance during the derecho.

Next week the group will discuss underground wires and whether that could be a solution.
