Nurses plans 1-day strike at Northeast D.C. hospital

WASHINGTON — Nurses at Providence Hospital in Northeast D.C., plan to hold a one-day strike Nov. 12 to protest what they are calling inadequate Ebola preparedness, NBC4 reports.

The protest, which will also address safe staffing, wages and benefits, will begin at 7 a.m. as part of a national day of action by National Nurses United (NNU).

In a press release, one Providence nurse expresses her concern for being asked to care for a possible Ebola patient without optimal protective clothing, equipment and training.

The hospital will remain open during the strike, NBC4 reports.
