Police: Former D.C. treasurer’s body found

UPDATE Tuesday 9:20 p.m.: D.C. police say the body of a man found Saturday in Chillum, Maryland, is “believed to be that of” former city treasurer Lasana Mack.

Mack worked for the District for decades and was the city’s treasurer for seven years. He most recently worked as the executive director of a nonprofit in the city.

Friends tell WTOP Mack was a community oriented, dedicated person. They say he was last seen near his home in the Brookland neighborhood of Northeast D.C.

Police say they’re waiting on the autopsy from the Prince Georges County medical examiner to confirm the body’s identity, but they believe it’s his.
