2 dead in garbage truck, car wreck on DC-295

WASHINGTON — Two people are dead after a car accident on DC-295 on Saturday morning, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. A garbage truck and passenger vehicle collided around 8:45 a.m. in the northbound lanes near Pennsylvania Avenue.

The two adults killed were in the same car. Police have now identified the victims as 23-year-old Edmond Crawford of Oxon Hill, Maryland and 29 year-old Ltonya Brown of Oxon Hill, Maryland.

Upon arrival, police located a D.C. Government trash truck and a 2009 Mitsubishi, which had been involved in the crash. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel then determined that Crawford, the driver, of the Mitsubishi did not show any signs of life and was later pronounced dead.

Brown, the front passenger of the Mitsubishi, was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. The rear passenger of the Mitsubishi was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The operator and two passengers of the trash truck were also transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The decedents have been identified as 23-year-old Edmond Crawford of Oxon Hill, Maryland and 29 year-old Ltonya Brown of Oxon Hill, Maryland.

This crash is currently under investigation. The Metropolitan Police Department is asking anyone with information about this case to call the police at (202) 727-9099.
