Peter Chang, the chef whose Virginia restaurants serve some of the most sought-after Chinese food on the East Coast, is making his way into the D.C. region.
Chang will open an eponymous restaurant at Rockville Town Square in early 2015, according to the development’s owner, Federal Realty Investment Trust.
The 3,100-square-foot restaurant will serve signature items such as Peter Chang’s duck in stone pot and Grandma’s steamed pork belly as well as a range of Szechwan cuisine. The former chef of the Chinese embassy in Washington also has restaurants in Fredericksburg, Williamsburg and Charlottesville, and plans to open a Fairfax location later this year.
Chang’s cooking has become decidedly easier to find in recent years as he has expanded his empire of restaurants. Before opening Peter Chang’s, he cooked at a range of Chinese restaurants around Virginia and other parts of the south, often staying for just a few months before moving on to a new kitchen.
