Peaceful protest turns violent in D.C.

WASHINGTON -- A protest connected with the African leaders summit turned violent Tuesday afternoon in downtown D.C.

Protesters and supporters of the President Alpha Condé of the sub-Saharan nation Guinea clashed.

WTOP's Jim Battagliese, who was on the scene, says a large brawl spilled onto 14th street where several people were arrested and several were injured. It all happened in front of The Willard hotel.

Two men have been arrested.
