Metro: weekend work to affect red and blue lines

WASHINGTON (AP) — Metro says some passengers on the red and blue lines will wait longer for trains this weekend.

Metro says beginning Friday at 10 p.m. and continuing through system closing on Sunday, trains on the blue line will operate every 24 minutes.

On the red line, trains will operate between Shady Grove and Glenmont every 16 minutes. Red line trains between Grosvenor and Silver Spring will operate every 8 to 10 minutes from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Metro says there will be regular weekend service on the green, yellow and orange lines. On the silver line, there will be regular service between Wiehle-Reston East and Stadium-Armory, rather than Largo Town Center.
