Potomac Nationals kick off Police Week

WASHINGTON -- The Potomac Nationals are kicking off Police Week with special appearances, activities, and fireworks at Saturday's game.

Special guests include The Washington Nationals' mascots Screech and one of the Racing Presidents, George Washington.

To raise awareness for next year's World Police and Fire Games, fans will be greeted by a display of public safety vehicles they'll be allowed to explore the Fairfax County police's Mobile Command Center and various fire trucks.

The first 1,000 fans will get a co-branded 2015 World Police and Fire Games and Potomac Nationals baseball.

Career Oriole Scott McGregor will be on hand before the game to sign autographs. McGregor pitched a complete game shutout to clinch the World Series in the Orioles' last championship in 1983.

After the game, children will be invited to run the bases and there will be a fireworks display.

On Saturday, May 10, 2014 Potomac Nationals v Myrtle Beach Pelicans first pitch is at 6:35 P.M. A $4 portion of each ticket will go to Fairfax 2015, next summer's games hosted in Fairfax County.

Much like the Olympics, the games feature athletes who work as first responders from 70 countries. These participants will compete in 60 sports at 53 venues throughout northern Virginia. Virginia. The 2015 games are from June 26 to July 4.

The Potomac Nationals' Pfitzner Stadium is located in Woobridge, Va.
