#dcrising, indeed: Wizards playoff ticket prices spiking ahead of Game 3

It didn’t take long for the D.C. area to catch Wizards fever: Playoff ticket prices are enough to make you sick.

As the Wizards prepare to hit the court Friday for Game 3 of their playoff series against the Chicago Bulls, tickets are a hot commodity — and prices on the secondary market are soaring 92 percent over what they were a week ago.

That’s according to  ticket broker SeatGeek, which says tickets for Game 3 of the series went on sale a week ago for $99 each. Leading up to game time, they were going for $190 — three times the price of a seat during the regular season.

“What makes this spike in demand for Wizards playoff tickets even more noteworthy is that during the regular season, Wizards tickets were some of the cheapest on the secondary market,” SeatGeek reports. The average price was $56, the seventh-lowest in the NBA.

Those prices are more than what fans paid when the series started in Chicago. The average price for Games 1 and 2 was $93, half of what they’re going for in D.C.

And if you’re looking to get close to the action, you better be able to pay up.

As of Friday morning, a ticket in Row 121 was posted at $676.  Two are available.
