WASHINGTON (AP) -- A woman convicted of stabbing her neighbor in the presence of the neighbor's 6-year-old daughter has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.
Thirty-three-year-old Cydrisse Alvin of Washington was convicted of first-degree murder in December in the death of 28-year-old Amber Kent. Alvin was sentenced Wednesday in Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
Prosecutors say in June 2012, Alvin knocked on the door of Kent, a former friend. Authorities say Alvin stabbed Kent once in the chest and twice in the back, in the presence of Kent's young daughter.
