Draft Magazine’s 2014 list of America’s 100 Best Beer Bars includes only one in the D.C. area: Neighborhood Restaurant Group’s Churchkey on 14th St. NW.
“Beers are smartly grouped by flavor (citrusy, woodsy, et.) rather than just by style,” the magazine writes in describing criteria for assembling the list.
In its sixth-annual list of best beer bars, the magazine considered more than just how many beers a bar offers. It also weighed knowledgeable staff, well-cared-for beer and atmosphere.
Churchkey does not come up short in the variety category: Its menu lists 50 beers on tap and hundreds by the bottle.
Two Baltimore beer bars made the list: The Brewers’ Art and Max’s Taphouse.
