WASHINGTON (AP) -- District of Columbia fire officials say one person was found dead after a fire in the basement of an apartment home in northwest Washington.
Firefighters were called to the home just before 2 p.m. Thursday. Fire officials say the fire was confined to the basement and was extinguished in about 20 minutes. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was hurt.
The home in the Adams Morgan neighborhood is divided into four apartments.
Authorities have not released any information about the victim. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
