Officials to discuss Chesapeake Bay Program

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Representatives from several states will be discussing the future of the 30-year-old Chesapeake Bay Program.

Officials from Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and the District of Columbia are scheduled to gather in Washington at the U.S. National Arboretum Visitor Center to discuss future restoration and conservation efforts.

A new chair for the Chesapeake Executive Council also will be announced.

The program is a regional partnership that directs bay preservation and restoration.

Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley and District of Columbia Mayor Vincent Gray are among those scheduled to attend the meeting.
