WASHINGTON (AP) -- A District of Columbia police officer accused of running a prostitution operation from his apartment has been arrested.
Police on Wednesday arrested Linwood Barnhill Jr. on charges of pandering of a minor. It was not immediately clear if he had a lawyer.
A search warrant affidavit unsealed last week alleged that police found a 16-year-old female runaway inside Barnhill's apartment. Police say the girl told officers that Barnhill offered to set up sexual encounters with other men for money.
Barnhill's arrest came as another police officer facing child pornography charges in a separate investigation was found dead in the Washington Channel. Police confirmed Wednesday that a man pulled from the water Tuesday night is 32-year-old Officer Marc Washington of Waldorf, Md. A phone message left with his public defender was not immediately returned.
