FDR library-museum's digital database hits the Web

HYDE PARK, N.Y. (AP) -- Hundreds of thousands of archival documents pertaining to Franklin D. and Eleanor Roosevelt can now be accessed online thanks to a virtual research tool launched this week.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports ( ) that the public database that went live Wednesday is a collaborative effort by the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum in Hyde Park, the National Archives and Records Administration, Marist College, IBM and the Roosevelt Institute.

The database dubbed "FRANKLIN" includes 350,000 pages of documents and 2,000 historical photographs relating to the nation's 32nd president and his wife.

The information can be accessed through the Roosevelt library's website at .

The FDR library and museum are located on the former Roosevelt family estate in Hyde Park, 75 miles north of New York City.
