D.C. restaurants have ways you can help
WASHINGTON - The call for help has gone out for the people of the Philippines following killer Typhoon Haiyan. Locally, Nycci Nellis of "The List Are You On it" has some delicious and yummy ways to raise funds for relief efforts.
The staff at Malmaison, the fancy French restaurant in Georgetown, is giving up their tips through Friday, Nov 22.
"100-percent of the gratuity that you leave, all the wait staff is donating that to americare.org," she says.
The owners of Malmaison, will be match each dollar the staff raises in tips for the emergency relief efforts overseas, Nellis says.
"Go down and leave big tips," she says.
At Daikaya, from Sunday, Nov. 17 through Tuesday, Dec. 31, all the proceeds from the sale of a special dish called "sisig" will go to the World Food Program to help families in the Philippines. "Sisig" is a Filipino inspired dish on the menu. Daikaya is located near the Gallery Place Metro station.
The Adams Morgan restaurant, Cashion's Eat Place, will donate 100 percent of the proceeds to the Red Cross from @WTOP on Twitter.
