Police arrest suspect in NE D.C. shooting

WASHINGTON – Police have arrested a man allegedly involved in a Northeast D.C. shooting that left four people injured Wednesday.

Police arrested 51-year-old Victor Coley in the 3500 Clay Place, NE, saying he opened fire in the 3900 block of Minnesota Avenue NE, outside a Payless Shoe store. The shooting hurt one woman and three men, said Metropolitan Police Department Chief Cathy Lanier.

Two of the victims are in serious but stable condition, Lanier said.

Authorities said Coley approached the group and opened fire. The shooting did not appear to be random, officials said. A motive for the shooting isn’t known.

Coley is being charged with four counts of assault with intent to kill.
