Marion Barry: Twitter remark about park service inappropriate

WASHINGTON – D.C. Councilmember Marion Barry says he did not personally send tweets from his account criticizing the National Park Service about a Rock Creek Park deer hunt.

Barry, D-Ward 8, also said calling the park service a “MOFO” on Twitter went too far. The term can be used as slang for an explicit reference.

The councilmember tells The Washington Post that someone else had authorized access to his Twitter account and tweeted the messages Thursday, some of which used the hashtag #dontkillbambi.

Barry tells the Post he wants to sit down with the park service to discuss other options for thinning the deer population.

He says he told the tweeter that the “MOFO” reference was not appropriate.
