WASHINGTON - A 31-year-old undergraduate student was shot and killed while walking home from the Metro Thursday night in Northeast D.C.
D.C. police say Akinwole Olu Williams was killed around midnight. The shooting happened on 44th Street in Northeast, near Interstate 295 in the Deanwood area.
NBC Washington says Williams died at a local hospital.
Police aren't sure why Williams was shot, but are investigating the death.
Relatives told NBC Washington that Williams was a graduate student at Catholic University.
