Man shot by D.C. officer during domestic disturbance call

WASHINGTON – A D.C. police officer shot a man who attacked another officer with a knife during a domestic disturbance call, police say.

Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a domestic disturbance report in the 6400 block of 13th Street NW at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night. Police say while the officers were inside the home, a man lunged at and attacked one officer with a knife.

Police say another officer shot the man, who was taken to a hospital in serious condition. The officer who was attacked has been treated and released.

Police are not describing the relationship between the people in the home. An internal investigation of the incident is under way.
