WASHINGTON - Washington area commuters are bracing for more winter weather.
The National Weather Service says a winter weather advisory is in effect this afternoon for the Washington area and most of Maryland. A winter storm warning has been issued for far western Maryland.
Forecasters say accumulations of snow Friday afternoon should be about an inch in the Washington area, but roads will be slippery for the afternoon and evening commute.
District of Columbia officials say the city's snow team is treating residential streets and monitoring major streets in anticipation. The predicted snow follows a light snow Thursday morning that made commuting difficult and prompted schools closings and delays throughout the area.
