Judge halts plans for Ivy City bus lot

WASHINGTON – A D.C. judge has halted plans for a new tour bus depot in the Ivy City neighborhood until an environmental assessment is completed.

Residents of the neighborhood, which is just off of New York Avenue in NE, sued the city to stop the construction of a new lot that would provide overflow parking for tour buses that don’t have a place to park at Union Station.

The city is already building the lot Alexander Crummell School at the intersection of Gallaudet Street NE and Kendall Street NE.

Judge Judith N. Macaluso found that the city broke the law by not consulting with the Advisory Neighborhood Council and for not doing an environmental impact report.

The city will not be able to operate the lot until the environment study is done, but can complete construction.
