Playoff baseball returns to D.C. today for the first time in 79 years, but the game is a letdown for some Nationals fans who bought tickets.

Because the league set the start-time at 1:07 p.m., in the middle of a Wednesday workday, quite a few people have to stay at the office and sell their precious tickets.

Ticket marketplace StubHub.com is noticing the turnover.

"For fans that maybe already have tickets and realize that they can't necessarily play hooky and go to the game during the day at 1 o'clock, we've started to see a spike of about 25 percent in traffic...the mix of people buying tickets as well as also selling their tickets," says StubHub spokeswoman Joellen Ferrer.

"For fans still looking for tickets it's not too late. They certainly have some options," she adds.

"Ticket prices, they'll vary and they'll continue to fluctuate all throughout the day simply because tickets are a perishable item," Ferrer says.

Tickets to National League Championship Series games and World Series games can be purchased now on StubHub, and Ferrer says it's a good time to do so.

"It's completely risk-free for fans to buy tickets to any of these potential games...they'll get a full refund if any of these games aren't played. The one benefit of buying early is that the market hasn't set yet for a potential World Series in D.C. Now, if that becomes a reality without a doubt ticket prices will surge for this."
