VIERA, Fla. — Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman signed a six year, $100 million contract extension last month to remain with the club through at least through the 2019 season.
Zimmerman has always been called the "Face of the Franchise," but after having abdominal surgery last season and being on the disabled list twice, he is healthy again this year and ready to help lead the team to what everyone in the clubhouse feels will be a winning, successful season.
Zimmerman is beginning his seventh full season in Washington and spoke with WTOP's Craig Heist this week about his contract, Peyton Manning, Davey Johnson, Cal Ripken and how this Nationals team shapes up.
