VIERA, Fla. - John Lannan allowed two runs and two hits over five innings and the Washington Nationals defeated the Houston Astros 7-4 Monday.
Roger Bernadina homered for the second consecutive day for the Nationals, this one a two-run shot in the fifth inning. He also singled in three at-bats. Washington catcher Wilson Ramos and first baseman Chad Tracy both had two hits and an RBI.
Lannan was named the Nationals fifth starter on Monday with Chien-Ming Wang expected to start the season on the disabled list. He struck out five.
Chris Johnson hit his fourth home run of the spring for the Astros, a solo shot off of Lannan. Brandon Barnes had two hits and also hit a home run for Houston.
