WFED’s sports line-up: Nov. 12 to 18

WASHINGTON – A busy week of live play-by-play on Federal News Radio will see eight games airing over the next seven days. Among the broadcasts are three NBA games, three NCAA Basketball games, one NCAA Football game and one NFL game.

From the quirky-facts department, three of the eight games will include a Bobcat (AU hoops vs. the Quinnipiac Bobcats, Wizards basketball vs. the Charlotte Bobcats and Navy football vs. the Texas State Bobcats). There will also be a Bearcat sighting as Navy hoops takes on the Binghamton Bearcats.

  • Monday, Nov. 12, 7 p.m. American @ Quinnipiac (WFED 1500AM): The AU Eagles (0-1) seek their first win of the season as they visit the Quinnipiac Bobcats (1- 0) Monday night in Hamden, Conn. These schools met for the first time last Nov. 22 in a 74-73 win for American at Bender Arena in D.C.

    AU will look to rebound from Friday’s 72-36 opening night loss in Minnesota in which senior Stephen Lumpkins returned to the Eagles lineup. Lumpkins spent last season playing professional baseball with the Kansas City Royals organization. Pregame for the AU-Quinnipiac matchup is at 6:50 with play-by-play voice Dan Laing and color analyst Jeremy Huber. The game will also air online at WFED.com.

  • Tuesday, Nov. 13, 7 p.m. Wizards @ Charlotte (WFED 1500AM): The Wizards (0-5) will also be seeking their first win of the season as they visit the Bobcats (2-3) Tuesday night in North Carolina. This marks the Wizards’ first game within the Southeast Division this season and it comes against a Bobcats team that the Wizards swept 4-0 in last year’s season series.

    The Wizards will look to bounce back from Saturday’s 89-85 loss in Indiana which saw Randy Wittman’s team blow a seven point second quarter lead. Pregame coverage for the Wizards-Bobcats matchup begins at 6:45 with play-by-play voice Dave Johnson and color analyst Glenn Consor.

  • Wednesday, Nov. 14, 7 p.m. Navy vs. Binghamton (1050AM): The Midshipmen (1-1) close out their season-opening three game homestand Wednesday night as they host the Binghamton Bearcats (0-2) at Alumni Hall in Annapolis, MD.

    The Mids have lost 23-straight against Division-I opponents following Sunday’s 54- 49 overtime loss to Siena. Pregame coverage for Wednesday’s matchup begins at 6:45 p.m. with play-by-play voice Pete Medhurst. The game will be available online at WFED.com.

  • Wednesday, Nov. 14, 8:30 p.m. Wizards @ Dallas (WFED 1500AM): The Wizards will be playing their second game in as many nights as they visit the Mavericks (4-3, through Sunday) on Wednesday night in Texas. This marks the Wizards first game against a Western Conference opponent this season.

    The Wizards fell in Dallas 107-98 during their only meeting last season as Dirk Nowitzki led the way with 27 points. The Wizards won’t have to worry about a repeat performance in this one as Nowitzki has yet to play this season due to a knee injury. Pregame coverage begins at 8:15 p.m. with Dave Johnson and Glenn Consor.

  • Saturday, Nov. 17, 1 p.m. George Washington @ Boston University (1050AM): The GW Colonials (0-1) visit the BU Terriers (0-1, through Sunday) in their first road game of the 2012-13 campaign.

    The Colonials fell 80-73 in last Saturday’s season-opening loss to Youngstown State at the Charles E. Smith Center in Foggy Bottom. Isaiah Armwood led GW with 18 points in his Colonials debut, while freshman Patricio Garino had 13 points for the Buff and Blue. Pregame coverage of Saturday’s tilt in Boston begins at 12:45 p.m. with play-by-play voice Byron Kerr. The game will also air online at WFED.com.

  • Saturday Nov. 17, 3:30 p.m. Navy vs. Texas State (WFED 1500AM): The Midshipmen (6-4) close out the home portion of their 2012 football season with their first ever meeting against the Texas State Bobcats (3-6). Navy is seeking its 10th straight win on Senior Day, having not lost in its home finale since a 38-0 drubbing to UCONN in 2002.

    Pregame coverage begins with the Navy Coaches Show at 1:30 followed by the official Navy Pregame Show at 2:30 p.m. with play-by-play voice Bob Socci, color analyst Omar Nelson and sideline reporter Pete Medhurst. The game will also be available online at WFED.com.

  • Saturday Nov. 17, 7 p.m. Wizards vs. Utah (WFED 1500AM): After three straight road games, the Wizards return to Verizon Center next Saturday to face the Jazz (3-4, through Sunday). The Wizards will be seeking their first home win of the season and they’ll do against a Utah team that has started the year winless in its first four road games.

    The Wizards could be catching the Jazz at a good time as they’ll be playing their second road game in as many nights and their fourth road game in six nights overall. Extended pregame coverage begins at 6 p.m. with All Access, a Monumental Sports and Entertainment Production. Guests for All-Access include Wizards funny man Martell Webster.

  • Sunday Nov. 18, 8:20 p.m. Ravens @ Pittsburgh (WFED 1500AM: The Ravens (7-2) look to remain the class of the AFC North as they meet the Steelers (5-3, through Sunday) for the first of two meetings this season.

    The Ravens have won a league-best 11 straight games within their division- a streak that includes last year’s season-sweep of the Steelers. Pregame coverage for the NFL’s Sunday matchup begins at 7:50 with play-by-play voice Gerry Sandusky, color analyst Qadry Ismail and sideline reporter Stan White.
