Boy strikes gold with rare whale vomit find

WASHINGTON – Vomit is not usually considered a prized item, but an 8-year-old in England recently struck gold when he came across the regurgitation of a sperm whale, according to the U.K.’s Daily Echo.

Ambergris is a highly prized substance often used to prolong the scent of perfume. This particular chunk can fetch as much as $63,000, the Daily Echo says.

Charlie Naysmith discovered the 600-gram gem at Hengistbury Head after it had washed up on a beach. The waxy substance could have been floating for decades.
